Madras high Court declined to hear a peculiar plea raised by parties in the case of KK Ramesh v. UOI ors.  ‘To print the image of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Indian Currency’.

The two judge bench with Justice N Kirubakaran and M Duraiswamy raised question to the plea and asked “why the image of such great leaders are to be printed if their principles are not being followed.

Although, before declining the present pleading, the court asked the Centre to formulate the committee over the issue raised. Thus, the RBI and center together prepared a report and concluded that Mahatma Gandhi, is father of nation and represent the ethos of nation thus his image is to be retained on currency. Further the decision taken by the committee was accepted by the Finance Ministry as well.

Thus, will observing the report of committee the court declined to interfere further in the issue and declined to hear the plea.
