NLSIU makes some changes in faculty; hires alumni Nigam Nuggehalli as registrar

The prestigious National Law School of Bangalore has announced its decision to hire four lateral faculty, of which two have joined and two remain due.

Among these is Nigam Nuggehalli, a 1997 NLSIU graduate, was the first national law university LLB holder to permanently run an Indian law school in July 2019 who has been scooped by NLSIU for the position of its registrar.

Nigam is the dean of BML Law University and now is set to succeed interim registrar Sarasu Esther Thomas, from the post which became vacant in October 2019 post the resignation of Prof OV Nandimath.

Nigam, after completing BA LLB from NLSIU, went on to do Masters (LLM) from the New York University specializing in Taxation. He further obtained a Doctor in Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Oxford.

Other faculty members expected to join are Azim Premji University Bengaluru professor of law ,Arun Thiruvengadam, who had previously also taught at NUS Singapore and NUJS Kolkata assistant professor Saurabh Bhattacharjee.

NLSIU recently recruited four more assistant professors who have already joined the institution (virtually). Preeti Dash, Prerna Dhoop, Sharada Shinde and Dr.Anwesha Ghosh are the names of the new recruits.

They all have exceptional educational qualifications, Preeti Pratishruti Dash is an NLU Odisha 2014 LLB holder and 2019 Harvard Law School LLM degree holder. While, Prerna Dhoop has a bachelor in Business Administration, as well as an LLM from Duke University’s School of Law in comparative constitutional and international human rights law, she has also taught at Nalsar Hyderabad as an assistant professor from 2016 to 2019
