More than 29 Lakh Cases disposed off through National Lok Adalat

On December 11th Lok Adalat was organized under agies of NALSA ( National Legal Service Authority) throughout the country. About 29 Lakhs cases were disposed of in a day.

This pandemic added a plethora of cases in the courts throughout all the courts in the country and thus increase in the already piled pending cases.

Even though only particular types of cases are taken up in such adalats, but it has much signified, as more emphasis is given on the settlement and compromise. Matters related to debt recovery, Negotiable Instrument Act, Revenue Matters, Electricity Bill recovery matters, Private Loans matters and also petty & Small Criminal compoundable cases, etc. are resolved in such type of courts.

This is the 4th time when NALSA has organized the countrywide campaign to lower down the number of pending cases, where the compromise and settlement may pave the way of resolution between the parties.

This time the Lok Adalat was organized by other States and Union Territories except Karnataka & Goa.

By the Lok Adalats held in September this year 41.11 lakhs cases were disposed off while in July this year 27.06 Lakhs cases were Disposed off.

In Lok Adalats lakhs of litigation cases as well pending matters are being resolved which included financial, Compoundable Criminal Cases, Revenue cases, etc. This time by theses Lok Adalats amount of rupees about 4431 Crore was disbursed through the settlements.
