Delhi high court ruled in PIL against Delhi government that schoolgirls should have uninterrupted supply of sanitary napkins

Written by Rhythm Agal

While disposing of the PIL against the Delhi government, Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad directed that the girls studying in school should be provided with an uninterrupted supply of sanitary napkins under the Kishori Yojana as formulated and adopted under the Department of Education (DOE). However, according to the PIL, the program was terminated in January of 2021, which caused a significant amount of inconvenience for the students.

According to the Court, the petition is no longer relevant because the dispute has been settled, and a temporary solution has been implemented: schools have been allocated cash to purchase sanitary napkins through the official e-marketplace after the Delhi government has announced a tender for their distribution. It was also informed that distribution has started, and the tender will be finalized soon.
