Law and Public Policy Youth Fellowship (LPPYF) by IMPRI [Online; June 12-Aug 11]

About the Fellowship

LPPYF Law and Public Policy Youth Fellowship is an Online National Summer School Program. A Two-Month Online Immersive Legal Awareness & Action Research Certificate Training Course and Internship Program from June-August 2023, IMPRI #WebPolicyLearning.

Who is it for?

Early Career Professionals, Young Research Scholars, and Postgraduate and Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.

Fellowship Schedule

Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. IST

  • The fellowship will convene for two months (nine weeks) from June 12 (orientation) – August 11 (valedictory), 2023.
  • Typically, there will be three classes in a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. over Zoom. Some of the sessions might take place on Saturdays due to the busy schedule of professionals.
  • The legal hands-on sessions will be conducted along with legal and technical sessions. The last four weeks of the program will focus on action research fieldwork and report writing.

About the Fellowship

The P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research is a research fellowship offered by the Government of Meghalaya exclusively for graduates of NLSIU. The Fellowship looks to expose students to the complex social and economic challenges of Meghalaya, a Sixth Schedule State, and generate interventions after analysing legal and policy frameworks in collaboration with senior policymakers of the Government.

Roles and Responsibilities

Undertake research to identify gaps in the state’s policies and legal frameworks and suggest interventions after assessing relevant stakeholders.

Providing research support to officers in their day-to-day functioning for strengthening the policy structure of the state by identifying reforms in areas the areas of (but not limited to) Civil Laws and procedures, Banking and other Financial Laws, I.T and Cyber Laws, Property Laws, Labour Laws, Industrial and Commercial Laws, Environment Laws, Revenue, Administration of Justice, Regulatory Compliances, Penal Provisions, etc.

Any other advisory support as requested by the Government of Meghalaya from time to time.

Primary and/or secondary research for anticipated or ongoing projects and policies of the state.

Eligibility Criteria

The Fellowship is open to all graduates of NLSIU, hailing from BA LLB (Hons .), LLM and the Masters in Public Policy (MPP).

Stipend

Each fellow will be eligible for a stipend of ₹60,000/- (Rupees Sixty Thousand only) per month and a House Rent Allowance of ₹ 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only ).

Every fellow will also receive a certificate on the successful completion of the fellowship.

Legal Fellowship Program at Wikimedia Foundation [Remote]

About the Opportunity

If you’re a current law student or recent law school graduate passionate about free knowledge and open source issues, applying to the legal fellowship program at Wikimedia can provide an immersive in-house experience with specific education and training in the areas of Internet law and free knowledge organizations.

Roles and Responsibilities

The fellows will be assigned challenging projects based on their particular interests and strengths. These projects range from researching various legal questions to drafting licensing agreements to developing internal and external policies. Each fellow will receive individualized projects that they will be expected to spearhead under the supervision and guidance of an attorney from the Legal Department.

Fellows will work closely with their supervising attorney – attending and participating in internal and external meetings, collaborating on projects, receiving feedback and support, and generally learning about the practical dimensions of practising law in-house at a web-based company.

When the opportunity exists, the Legal Department will work with a fellow’s university to facilitate earning academic credits and/or receiving funding for the fellow’s time at the Wikimedia Foundation.
