Weeks after the Delhi High Court suspended District Judge Aman Pratap Singh, the Delhi government has announced that his services as a judge have been terminated with immediate effect.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Legal Affairs, Delhi issued a gazette notification to this effect on October 10. “In accordance with the provisions of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1970, as amended, the Governor of the National Capital, Delhi, after consultation with the High Court of Delhi, hereby terminates the services of Mr. Aman Pratap. Singh, who is currently on probation, from the Delhi High Judicial Service with immediate effect,” the notification said.
On September 19, the Delhi High Court administratively removed Justice Singh from the judiciary and placed him on probation. According to sources, the decision was taken in view of the judge’s indiscipline, low availability and non-compliance with court deadlines.
This development comes shortly after a video surfaced on social media showing the judge behaving rudely in the courtroom. In the video, the court official was seen getting up from his chair and shouting at the court staff and the defense attorney of the accused.
