Gujarat High Court Issues Notice- “TRP Game Zone Fire Case”

Last Updated on August 5, 2024 by NewsDesk SLC

Surat-based gaming zone filed a plea against its closure and submitted it to Gujarat HC on Monday. A single judge bench of Justice Sangeeta K. Vishen issued notice to the respondent, which included the state government and Surat municipal corporation.

Where authority follows the TRP game zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, experienced a fire incident that led to the tragic loss of 27 lives earlier in May

In the following, the high court decided to close down all the gaming zones, including Woop Dome. The petitioner’s counsel Amit V Thakkar said result of this decision this gaming zone was also closed by the closure notice,

A respondent said- the petitioner had applied to modify this order specifically for their gaming zone (Woop Dome in Surat). They argued that their gaming zone had met all safety requirements and should be allowed to operate.

On July 4 the division bench of HC rejected the petitioner’s modification application to alter the original order. Thakkar pointed out that according to the order, the Surat municipal corporation must ensure that gaming zones in the state comply with necessary conditions and requirements.

They filed a plea seeking specific actions and requested that the authorities inspect their gaming zone within a stipulated period. If an inspection reveals everything is in order (the gaming zone complies with safety and operational requirements) the petitioner asks for permission to operate.

The petitioner has been operating the gaming zone since 2019 and obtained permissions from the competent authority to run the gaming zone like a fire safety certificate along with the occupancy and stability certificate too

If the court evaluates whether the gaming zone adhered to safety standards the presence of this certificate will play a crucial role in determining the gaming zone’s eligibility to operate.

The court can alter the original order.

The next hearing is listed for 12 August

Case title: LETS JUMP TRAMPOLINE AND ADVENTURE PVT. LTD. V/S STATE OF GUJARAT & ORS.
