Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant has informed about a significant development in his state. The CM said the cabinet has decided to give the approval for setting up an international for legal education and research.
The development of this project will be funded by Bar Council of India.
The Chief Minister also said that an International Arbitration Centre will also be set up in the state on the lines of the International Arbitration Centre located in Singapore.
The CM also informed that the location for these projects have not been finalized yet.
The project will be entirely funded by Bar Council of India. The state will only provide free of cost land to the BCI to locate the institution.
20% of the total seats in the university will be reserved for people belonging to the Goa- Domicile Category.
Various National Law Universities across the country offer domicile reservation to students of the state in which the university is located and the university set up in Goa will also continue to follow this policy.
The International Arbitration Centre which will be set up after the university starts functioning. The International Arbitration Centre will be run by the University itself.
The setting up of the International Arbitration Centre will be a significant moment as currently there is no Arbitration Centre in India and the International Arbitration Centre located in Singapore is one-of its kind in the world.
