Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Manmohan emphasized the importance of women in law and the need for them to use their skills to promote causes they believe in. He spoke at the 3rd Annual Tea Soiree organized by the Delhi High Court Women Lawyers Forum on May 3.
Justice Manmohan highlighted the transformative phase of gender equality and the increasing number of women in the profession.In the Delhi Higher Judicial Services (DHJS), there are now nine women judges, with nearly 66% of them being recruited in recent years. He believes that a collective like the Delhi High Court Women Lawyers Forum will be better suited for this growth.
Justice Rekha Palli, the senior-most woman judge of the Delhi High Court, also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the need for an ever-bigger space for women to progress.Palli also stated that law is no longer a boys’ club but a women’s club, with many young and senior lawyers standing up for women who stood up when there were few.
Also, She added that the profession of law is for everyone and that women should not be discouraged when someone says it is not for them. The winning logo of the Forum was unveiled at the event, designed by Amrita Singh.
